Dr. Yazrina Yahya is an Associate Professor who specializes in the area of Information Technology and Internationalization of Higher Education. She has been with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia since November 1997 and is currently based at Faculty of Economics and Management. Her multidisciplinary interest is due to her vast experience as the Director of the International Relations Centre, UKM and also because of her links to industry; via her attachment at AirAsia in 2010-2011, working with industries partners such as IBM, Coalition Services Industries of Malaysia (CSIM), Ministry of Education, locally and abroad, and as a Business Executive at Renong Solution Sdn Bhd in 1995 before she joined UKM.
Her major specializations are in the areas of Service Science, Information System Development, and Internationalization of Higher Education, in which her field of interests include management of internationalization, internationalization of higher education, and international education, value co-creation in developing information systems, values in e-Learning system, information system development using the service science approach,. She is also an Associate Fellow at ASM, and a member of the group who develops the document Science & Technology Foresight Malaysia 2015: Emerging Science, Engineering and Technology (ESET) Study, published by ASM. Her expertise on internationalization is also recognized by ASM in which she is a member of Working Group 6: Strategic International Alliance, Academy of Sciences Malaysia.
At the international level, Dr. Yazrina is recognized for her expertise in the area of Internationalization of Higher Education and Information Technology where she has been invited as a keynote speaker by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia; Universitas Gadjah Mada, Bulacan State University, University of Mindanao, Philippines; Universiti Andalas, Politeknik Padang, Indonesia, Commision of Higher Education (CHED) Philippines and Cebu Normal University Philippines. She was also invited as a guest speaker by the Canadian Bureau Of International Education (CBIE), EU-SHARE, ASEAN University Network (AUN), Sophia University, Japan, Universiti Andalas, Australian High Commission, Malaysia, and CAMPUS France in various international conferences held globally and locally. She was also one of the key persons to head the collaboration between the Department of Education Mexico (EDOMEX) and UKM that resulted in UKM hosting 100 Mexican students for a three-week summer program at various faculties in 2013. Partners from the ASEAN University Network (AUN), Association of University of Asia Pacific, EU-SHARE and ERASMUS Techno II have also acknowledged her expertise in managing international forums and securing student numbers to go abroad for exchange.
