French engineering schools have made international mobility mandatory for their students. The introduction of such a strategy requires a clearly thought-out action plan defining all crucial points: which departments will work on the project, the necessary legal framework, practical mobility windows, financial aspects, a comprehensive checklist of all procedure issues and any problems which may be encountered, with effective solutions. Consideration of the impact on the institution and the curriculum is crucial. French engineering schools are widely recognised in academic circles for their excellence in STEM. However, at student level, these HEI remain unfamiliar in certain countries. Mandatory mobility has proven to be of immense benefit to students, with the added advantage of increasing institution visibility, while fostering transnational education and global research collaboration. This poster session will give a picture of and feedback on the experience of implementing mandatory international mobility in a French Grande Ecole engineering curriculum.
