In July 2018, Tokai University hosted a one-month intensive summer course for students from Saudi Arabia regarding Engineering and Environmental Sciences through a hands-on training for the solar-powered car. This course was sponsored by Saudi’s MiSK Foundation, which cultivates learning and leadership in youth for the Saudi Arabia of tomorrow. Tokai's solar car is known as the most advanced and leading solar car in the world, because they have won the world's top solar car race a lot in the past. And, it is proud that the Tokai’s solar vehicle has been put together by the student-based project. So this program aimed to develop Saudi student’s basic knowledge on engineering and technologies, the know-how of solar car building and race operations, own skills in solar car engineering for building and racing own car in the future, and cooperation with the classmates to manage collaborative activities. This time, 40 Saudi students were interested and participated in the course. They seemed impressed by the program that combined lectures, experimental works at the factory, and field trips visiting Japanese leading companies such as Panasonic, Amada, and Toray. It was a unique opportunity for them to reconsider the future of renewable energy.
