International Faculty Recruitment and Integration

Recruitment of talented scholars is paramount for successful internationalization of universities. The diverse academic community increases university attractiveness to international students and transforms the quality of their learning experience. Unfortunately, most universities are lacking a comprehensive action plan in this field. As a result, the degree of faculty internationalization often varies among departments and depends much on the ability of academics to tap into their established networks and connections. The centralised system of international faculty support is often missing or inadequate to the task. The session demonstrates how the university may expand its outreach to a wider pool of international talent by strategic positioning of institutional advantages in terms of location, academic environment, research and career opportunities. The online and offline instruments are considered with adjustments for regional markets and subject fields. The speakers also discuss how to build an inclusive academic environment that values and supports diversity.

- understand the rationale for advancing diversity and inclusion in the academic community
- increase awareness of international faculty recruitment and integration tools
- analyze the importance of university’s strategic positioning for recruitment success.
