Enhancing Collaboration Outcomes Through Effective Management of International Partnerships
As universities build their reputation internationally, the roles of international partners are paramount. Strong international partners provide great internationalisation opportunities especially for the students--both undergraduates and postgraduates. This is especially important for young universities. On one hand, good partners and effective partnerships bring very positive influence and reputation to the university. On the other hand, ineffective collaborations can also bring negative impacts and perception on the university. It could effectively close doors on good partners if the relationship is not managed properly. For corporations, a system such as Customer Relations Management (CRM) is widely used. Why is it not a common practice for universities when managing their partners? In this talk, the speaker will cover the importance of effective international partnerships for universities in the ASEAN countries and globally, especially on improving student mobility and research collaboration. A model and framework of partnership management will be described. A transparent 5-star rating mechanism provides a good platform for continuous improvement of collaboration activities and effectiveness. For a large organisation, which is typical for a university, it is important for everyone in the organisation to have common goals and a good visibility on collaboration.
The talk will touch on the following points
1. The importance of effective international partnerships for universities in the ASEAN countries
2. The model and framework of partnership management from pre-first engagement with potential partners
3. Rating and continuously improving the collaboration effectiveness and outcomes through a transparent 5-star rating system
4. Enhancing student mobility through a better collaboration management
