Prof. Yasmin’s portfolio as Associate Vice Chancellor (Industry and Community Linkages) covers the coordination of units, centres and activities involved with industry and community across the campus and is committed to building an entrepreneurial ecosystem that will accelerate the scaling of the University’s R&D outputs through to their application to society; provide solutions to industry and open opportunities for high technology investment.
Prof. Yasmin currently sits on the board of University of Malaya. She also heads an active Biomolecular research group with the Centre of Research in Biotechnology for Agriculture (CEBAR) and teaches Microbiology and Biotechnology at the Institute of Biological Sciences. Prof Yasmin is also a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, and former undersecretary of the National Biotechnology Directorate at the Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation Malaysia (2009 -2012). She is active in issues relating to biosafety and biopolicies and is a member of the National Biosafety Board.
